I am 32 years old from Fort Wayne. I’ve been married to my wonderful wife Laura for three years who is also a contestant. When I was younger I was always involved with sports, even though I was in shape I was still overweight. After my playing days my weight got out of control. I have recently lost some weight but am not where I want to be yet. I’m ready to work hard and get to my weight loss goal.
Hey Tom
It is time to get out BLUE on! Rest up for tomorrow morning! See ya! Great job today!

Tom,
You are doing awsome! I saw your picture on facebook from your bike ride yesterday. It’s a good picture of you and your lovely wife:) I know you will have a good weigh in today.
See you tonight,
Karen
May is one of my favorite months. It has Laura’s birthday, my dad’s birthday and my favorite day of the year the Indy 500!! I grew up watching the Indy 500 and all the legends and heroes that it created. As an adult my family started going to the race every year and since Laura and I have been married we have started camping down there for the weekend (it sure beats dealing with race day traffic!). Anyway, one of my motivations for loosing weight is that they do a ride around Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a two seat Indy car (we bought the ride for my dad a few years ago for his 50th b-day). But in order to ride you have to be less than 250 lbs. So this whole month, especially when practice and qualifying starts I’m going to have a little extra reminder and motivation.
Another cool thing about May is that Laura and I are planting our first garden. I did some research and found that raised beds are a very good way to plant a garden. It’s good on space and helps keep things organized, plus you can put some really good soil in there to maximize vegetable production. We have the beds built and getting the soil this week. Can’t wait for fresh home grown vegies soon. Hopefully we have enought to share!!!
Tom, I think it is so great you have the motivation of riding around the Indy Motor Speedway..That is great…I know you can do it…You are doing such a good job. Just think of what you reached this week a weight you haven’t been at in how long???? a very long time:)
I would love to get more information on the gardening from you. I would love to plant some stuff this summer, but I am scared because I know very little about it. I think my kids would love to see stuff grow. I have two boys who say they are “ultimate fighters but master gardners too”…too funny…they love the dirt and to actually grow something would be too cool for them..
I am so happy to have met you and Laura, I look foward to many years of friendship and camping trips:)
Hugs,
Shannon
Great job today, good seeing you.
Excellent workout yesterday! I think they’re going to have to replace the punching bags when you guys are done. Keep up the good work!

Great workout this morning. Not real happy about a one pound loss this week, but at least it was a loss. I have to be due for a big week, I’m going to spend a little extra time in the gym this week to make that happen. I hope everybody has a good week! GO BLUE!!

Thanks for pushing me the other day when we were in that small group. Both you and James really made me work. I loved trying to keep up with the boys. You are really doing awesome in this contest. I know that your journey started well before FWSW. Your transformation amazing. Stay strong and keep up the great work. Don’t hesitate to drag me with you to the finish line. I love the support you offer all of us.

Tom you are doing such and awesome job. I can always tell when it is you coming up behind me when we are warming up in the mornings. When I hear your feet hit the floor, I am motivated to push myself harder!
Tom,
Keep up the great work….you are turning into a brand new man:) You inspire me with your determination and drive. Remember to stay strong and be positive…..a negative can always be turned into a positive….us social workers call it reframing
Kathleen
GO BLUE !!!!!!!!
PS Take care of my girl and remember i know how to box now so don’t make me come after you LOL
Your like the shrinking man Tom! Your getting so thin!
I have been feeling really good lately. The workouts really wear me out when we have them and my muscles may feel exhausted for a lot of the day, but I don’t have the soreness anymore that I first was experiencing for most of the first half of this journey. Everybody is really picking it up and it’s awesome to see how far we have all come so far. Only six more weeks left, lets make use of every minute of it!
You were rocking it out today baby!!!! I love you and I am so excited for all that the future holds for us. You are such a hard working, caring, and determined man. I am so proud of you, you can do anything you put your mind to!

Tom,
I still can’t get used to the sound of you coming up behind me. My mind wants to be competitive and run faster, but my body just can’t handle it…. you’re lucky…lol! Keep up the great work. You will be an amazing runner at the marathon. I can’t wait until I am able to see your time!
Tom – thank you for your supportive words each week!
I did not have a good weigh in last week. I’ve been through this before and know that if I just keep working and doing what I need to do that the weight loss will come. It was a great workout with Becky this morning. It is really awesome that she gives more of her time on Saturday mornings when she does not have to do that. Laura and I then took a bike ride down to New Haven and back, checked out the arts and crafts at Canal Days and tried to keep moving so we would not smell the food
By the time we got home we put about 11 miles in and the best part is that we were home before the rain started again. I’ve been feeling really good lately and really appreciate all the people and contestents that make this happen.
I hope you know just how lucky I am to have you in my life, let alone as my husband and best friend. You are such a wonderful man and person! It is you that makes me want the best for myself, and with all of your support I am have finally realized my own potential. I am so glad that we are in this wonderful experience together. We will always have this to reflect on and see just how far we have come. I am so proud of you and cannot wait for you to see just how wonferful of a father you will be. I love you, and recognize just how far you have come.
Tom,
I can’t wait to see you run this mini! I know you will be in the front of the pack. You are so strong and fast. I am really impressed with your drive and want to succeed. Great job!
Holly

You’re doing so awesome! Every morning in warm up I hear you coming up behind me and all I can think is, “Man, Tom’s killing it!” You’re going to do great at the marathon. Keep up the hard work.
