Happy Monday morning.  Completed my challenges and submitted this week.  I may be crazy by saying this, however, I think I have a made a few best friend, "Jacob" :)  Yes, "Jacobs Ladder" is an awesome low impact cardio machine.  At first it's a beast!  Then once you get going, it's great!!!

Hello all, been a couple of days, life is busy.  One of my nieces got married yesterday.  Originally it was scheduled for outdoors at Foster park, however, the rain had other plans... It ended up being held in a pavilion and all went well, did a little dancing at reception and had a good time hanging/talking with family and friends.  Also found out that some have been following me and cheering me on with FWSW :)  TY to all those supporting me.  I also want to give a shoutout to alumni Robert for pacing/running with me yesterday and providing encouragement during our 7 mile run yesterday.  Robert, I really do appreciate your support and encouragement!!!  Tomorrow is weigh in day, "rest day" today, however, I am planning on getting some housework and painting done in kitchen.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello, it's Wednesday, week 8.  Here is my status update.  Yesterday when doing some circuit training on treadmill, the belt slipped and caught my right leg funny.  I completed workout, however my hip was kind of hurting/tender when walking through the day.  I let Ashley and Tina know this morning and pushed through on my workout.  I am happy to say that my right leg/hip seems to be feeling better now.  Also, I want to give a shoutout to a few of my fwsw friends.  After workout today, my battery was dead, Matt, AJ and Steven assisted with a jumpstart, thanks guys, you really are like a family!!!  I need to get/attempt one of my two challenges this week on the "Jacobs Ladder" :)  Wish me luck!

Its Tuesday, week 8, lost 2.4lbs this past week.  Was hoping for a bigger number, however, it's still a loss.  I am still in the 280's, would like to see 270's next week and continue on down the following weeks.  Thanks for all the support.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Yesterday morning we did our 6 mile run, I think I faired pretty, as I had mentioned in my prior post, I was a little nervous, thanks to Coach Ashley for encouraging me and coaching me along!  Body was warm out afterwards, yet I wasn't completely exhausted.  Ended up doing yard work and mowing lawn yesterday, by the end of day my legs were GONE.  I was completely warn.  I slept well last night, didn't have struggles falling asleep.  Tomorrow  ought is weigh in.  I will keep you posted of my journey.

Status:  It's Friday, Mother's Day weekend, THANK YOU to all the mothers out there, without you, we would not be here!!! ;)  Body is sore, but good sore, feet are sore, however all the pain is manageable.  I find it peculiar that my body and feet can be sore and hurting and then when I begin to workout, run, exercise, the pain goes away (rather quickly).  Maybe that is unique for me, maybe it's the way God designed us.  Tomorrow we are running 6 miles (nearly a 10k), WOW, I really never imagined running as much as I have been, and being able to keep up.  Well, wish me luck, happy Mother's Day weekend!  Hoping for great weigh-in on Monday!

Hello all, I have not been blogging as much as I know I should be. Not much of a blog to read, when I do not provide content. :)  i

It is week 7, Thursday, post "Thursday night run, thanks to coaches Antoinette, Frank and Theresa.  50 minute run at Parkview YMCA. 5x5 (walk/run), went well, can really tell as the weight comes off and cardio improves how much easier it is to keep breath when running longer and longer periods of time.  My body is really starting to adapt to the straneous workouts.  I noticed my shoulders being sore today and couldn't pinpoint what I had done til this evening talking with some of the other contestants.  "Crab walks" and "bear crawls", ah that's it!!!  lol I really enjoyed Wednesday mornings extra credit, it was fun and dIfferent (thx Rick!!).  Anyways, thanks for tuning in.

I blogged yesterday, however, I must have not hit "save"....

Anyways, weight loss last monday was just a bit over a pound and last night was an additional 3 pounds.  In total so far I have lost 16 pounds.  I really thought I would have lost more by now.  My eating and journaling is on par, however, I will admit, I have not been doing my second workouts as often as I should.  Well, it is week 5, I am still motivated, this morning (and the rest of this week I have EXTRA CREDIT or as some refer to it as EXTRA LUV.  This goes on all week, it is an additional 30 minutes of workout in the morning prior to the morning workouts.  Also, there is a CHALLENGE this week.  The challenger is to do 100 flights of stairs on the the Stairmaster aka "STAIR MONSTER" in one session.  This challenge needs to be completed twice this week.  Wish me luck and I will continue to port.

Week 3 today, weigh-in tonight, will let you all know how it goes.  Friday we began boxing, really had a good workout.  We have been doing a lot of walking, however, this week we begin running. Managing food intake is getting better, eating a lot of fibrous foods to fill full, drinking plenty of water.  Stay tuned!

Hello once again.  I have completed One whole week and 1 day.  We had weigh-ins last night and I am pleased to announce that I have lost 5lbs so far!  Here is a recap of the week:

Tuesday and Wednesday mornings were rough getting used to waking up early and the new workouts.  Swimming on Thursday was fun, yet challenging.  We were back at it Friday morning and Saturday morning we had a nice crisp walk @ Deer Ridge Elementary school.  Sunday was a recovery day and so was Monday.  Some additional challenges that I had were a cut on the back of my left heal from my shoes and overcoming hunger pains from challenging my food intake.

This morning and this week are looking good!  I feel that I am getting used to the workouts, I am also getting used to making good food choices.  I plan on kicking things up a notch this week with additional workouts, walks and runs as I can fit into my schedule.  Please continue to stay tuned to updates and lookup Fort Wayne's Smallest Winner on Facebook to see pictures!

Hello all,

I wanted to just give a quick update. TONIGHT is the initial weigh-in, I'm so excited about getting started! Workouts start tomorrow morning and I will keep you all posted. To date, I have made a commitment to not use any elevators (stairs only), no soda, have been professionally fitted for my new running shoes (http://3riversrunning.com/), thanks Josh! I have also started tracking my food intake and drinking TONS of H20. I also want to thank Rick, Tina, the running coaches, the dieticians, trainers, camera crew and all sponsors, supporters, Spiece Fitness (http://spiecefitness.com/) and last, but least, Tom Spiece.

Tom,

Thanks for the water bottle, it's great and I DO NOT plan on giving it back!;)

Stay tuned all, I will keep you posted on my progress!!!

Really great job today completing 6 miles! I enjoyed being able to get a feel for your progress thus far (WHICH IS GREAT!) even though you're a solo runner. :) I think if we focus on keeping your walking pace up in between running intervals you're going to surprise yourself with your pace come race day on July 1st. Keep working hard, buddy! It's paying off.

  • Looking forward to a bigger number this week, thinking the extra love might help. Ha Ha Appreciate the honesty on explaining how you have not been hitting the second workouts as you should. This journey will be over before you know it, commit to making those second workouts and get all you can out of this life changing experience. Leave nothing on the table. We do enjoy your great attitude. Thanks Rick and Tina

    Marcus,

You are doing an amazing job so far in the program. You really do a great job pushing yourself. Continue with your positive attitude and pushing yourself it will definitely take you far in this program. Remember: "If it was easy... Everyone would be doing it!" "If it doesn't challenge you ... It doesn't change you!"
